E Hoʻohui Me Mākou! Connect With Us!
MIKO’s mission is to support Kānaka Maoli/Native Hawaiian ‘Ohana with young keiki in their journey to preserve and sustain our culture and language despite not being on our ‘Āina.
Many generations of Kānaka Maoli Keiki and Mākua who know where we come from, who we are, and where we are collectively going.
In order to best serve our lāhui, MIKO believes in being transparent, just, and equitable in all that we do.
MIKO believes that we must model the love and care for ourselves, each other, and the land that we want our families to pass down to our keiki.
MIKO believes that humility is needed to do this work as we must always be listening to our community, seeking ‘ike (knowledge) in what they say, and changing our work as needed.
This value holds two meanings for MIKO. We believe that we must always be working hard for our lāhui past, present, and future. We also believe that the core of our work is our ways of being, speaking, and doing.
MIKO believes Kānaka Maoli know what is best for Kānaka Maoli and support our lāhui in our sovereignty and indigeneity.
