E Hoʻohui Me Mākou! Connect With Us!
E komo mai (come) and join us for one of our Ka Manawa Pāʻani & Moʻolelo ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi - a time for families with children 0-5 years old to play together, hear a story, and do an activity in ‘Ōlelo Hawai’i (the Hawaiian language). Together, as a community of Native Hawaiian families, we will learn together and practice our language and culture while helping our keiki (kids) with their early literacy.
Activities are geared towards 0-5 years old but the whole ‘ohana is welcome. No ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi experience needed; Kumu Kamalei is only 2+ years into her own journey and we will be supporting each other.

How old does my child need to be?
We center our activities towards 0-5 years old but the whole ‘ohana is welcome! Participants must have a child though.
How fluent do I need to be in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian) to come?
All levels of fluency are more than welcome to come! No ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi experience is needed; Kumu Kamalei is only 2+ years into her own journey and we will all be supporting each other. All you need is a love for our language and an interest in learning it and passing it down to your keiki (child).
What can we expect at ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi Play & Storytime: Ka Manawa Pāʻani & Moʻolelo ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi?
We will be doing some free play at first as people come into the room. Then, we will do a short circle time with songs and a moʻolelo (story). Afterwards, we will do an activity that aligns with the theme and objectives for that month.
How much does it cost?
This event is free, but donations are always welcome. You can donate to Mālama i Ka ʻOhana at: https://poweredbyshunpike.org/c/PBS/a/malamaikaohana.
What should I bring?
Just you, your kamaliʻi (young child/baby), and your ʻohana! Feel free to bring a light snack and waterbottle for your child if you think that will be hungry.
Can I just drop off my kids?
No, a parent/guardian must stay with the child(ren) at all times. This time is meant to be a fun growing opportunity for the whole ʻohana
